2nd Period

  • As a group we discussed lighting. I thought using spot lights on the separate characters would draw attention to them, but to also keep the creepy feeling in the room, by dimming the rest of the room.
  • Me, Purdey, and Molly organised our frees; when we should all meet up to rehearse.
  • This lesson mainly consisted of writing our monologues.
  • We needed to research how our characters died: what they were doing, where they were, finding out what they must have been feeling, and what type of injuries she sustained.
My Monologue

“It was the 31st August 1888. I had just been kicked out of my room, something about rent? Landlord said i was short of four pence. I replyed that i didn’t have it, and was out on my ear.”
“Anyways. So i decided to earn some money on the streets, with the help of this new bonnet!”
“At 2.30am i had made enough loot to pay the landlord three times over! But sadly i drank it all away, typical me.”
“So i went back to the cold streets, and was welcomed by a mysterious fellow; tall, dark, not handsome, shame. I didn’t really agree with him; he had a strange smell, and stared at me with something more than lust. It was like he needed me, hungered for it, his eyes had a twinkle of malice.”
“We came to an abrupt halt, i was smacked to the wall, i couldn’t breath. He brought his hand up slowly, there was something reflective in his hand, a knife! Before i had chance to collect myself, he brought the knife down, connecting with my throat, and making everything go black.”

06/09/11 My first day of Btec Drama.

1st Period
  • The groups of us had a meeting to discuss what we were going to do for open day. We had decided to perform a piece based on the historical murderer Jack the Ripper.
  • As a group we planned out the structure of our performance; using H21 as an introduction room, and H22 as the main area.
  • We then discussed which roles we wanted, and how to use 4 girls when we need 5. ( Jack murdered 5 women. )
Break
  • Theo and I decided to plan out how we could use H22.
  • I thought of using the curtains as an alley, and Theo thought of using a rows of chairs as the other alley. We used props as doorways, tables and chairs as a bedroom.
  • We then started researching: Each girls back stories, and some of Jack the Rippers letters.
3rd Period
  • We discussed how we would track our progress in lessons.
  • We then planned what props we would use: Dresses, under clothes, and the police mans cloak.
  • We planned out the intro for the narrator.
  • Then we planned a schedule, for when we will study on our own time.
